The Trump Administration Is Moving Toward Creating A Global Watershed

President Trump announced a budget proposal on Tuesday that would create the first ever global watershed, a plan that would focus on reining in the ocean and building new waterways.
The plan would also increase federal funding for ocean restoration projects, including one that aims to restore fish stocks in the Gulf of Mexico.
But the budget also proposes major changes to how the federal government regulates the oceans.
The proposal, titled the White House Watershed Initiative, would give federal agencies the authority to establish new watersheds, including new ones for fisheries, recreation, and research, and to manage the oceans in a manner that would better serve the country’s conservation, protection, and stewardship of the oceans, according to the administration.
The budget proposal was released by the Office of Management and Budget, which will draft the Trump administration’s environmental policies, as part of a budget blueprint.
Trump made the announcement during his trip to Asia, where he spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
It is unclear what impact the White Senate will have on the Trump-era Watershed initiative.
