‘Sons of Anarchy’ actor dies in plane crash
A British actor who played the iconic role of Uncle Sam in the television series Sons of Anarchy has died in a plane crash, the network announced Monday.
Khalilah Houssawi, 39, died Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital after crashing his Cessna 152 while taking off from Los Angeles International Airport, according to TMZ.
The news of Houssi’s death came just hours after TMZ posted a video of the actor at a dinner party, where he was seen laughing and joking with the couple behind him, including one who said Housis death was “the happiest day of my life.”
Houssuli died at the scene of the crash, according, TMZ.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
Houssi played the Uncle Sam character on the series for three seasons, from 2009 to 2011.
He reprised the role for the series’ third season, which was produced by Bad Robot, a studio that also produces shows including the upcoming Netflix original series The Punisher.
Housi was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the show, which aired for six seasons.HOUSSIS JUVENILE CRASH: Housso died while taking a ride on a private plane with a group of friends.
He was found unconscious on the ground by his friends who rushed to his aid.
His body was taken to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, where his death was declared a homicide.
Hussein, who is from South Sudan, was a resident of L.A. for about a decade before moving to New York in 2007.
The actor’s wife of 10 years, Sarah, has also worked as an actress.
In a statement, a rep for the family said, “KhalILAH DIAMONDS was a devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, uncle’s friend and fan.
He was so beloved by all who knew him and loved by many more.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans.”
He is survived by his wife Sarah, three sons, a daughter, and a sister.
